Green Destinations Certification Program is an internationally accredited destination certification programme assessing and certifying tourism destinations against globally aligned sustainability standards. Certification is delivered independently, transparently, and in full compliance with international accreditation requirements.

Green Destinations is Accredited by the GSTC to issue destination certification based on 4 different standards:

GSTC-Destination Standard

The global base standard sustainable destination certification. Other standards are ‘Recognised’ to be aligned with this base standard

Green Destinations Standard

Green destinations’ base standard aligned with the GSTC standard since 2016

Mountain IDEAL standard

A US-based standard dedicated to mountain destinations in North America

Sustainable South Tyrol Standard

A standard dedicated to destinations in this North-Italian region

Certified Destinations

This page presents the official public register of certified destinations, replacing informal or marketing-oriented listings.

For each certified destination, the following information is published:

  • Full name of the certified destination
  • Full name and address of the destination management organisation
  • Reference standard applied
    • Green Destinations Standard
    • Mountain IDEAL
    • Sustainable South Tyrol
  • Certificate validity period (start date – end date)

Only destinations holding a valid certification decision are listed.

Important clarification

Certification status is time-bound. Expired, suspended, or withdrawn certificates are removed from the active register.
